Last time I fished I was still fishing like I was in November. Not til today did I realize why I had almost no fish. Thermocline. I'll bet I was at or below the thermocline and since there's little or no Oxygen, there was little to no fish. I have to keep that in mind next time out. Water temp was 38, I think the fish wanted jackets, not jigs.

I was reading a book a while back, and this particular book says that the lakes in the south, do not turn over twice a year as the lakes in the north do. He said that the southern lakes only turn over in the fall and dont in the spring. Now, I dont know if that means that our lakes dont stratefy in the winter or not, as I would think you are right Skeet and there may be an area now where the oxygen is very low. Would love to see more comments on this today. Good subject. If I had to guess, I would say that the oxygen levels are better deep now, than above if there is winter stratification or layering of the water. Will be the first to admit that I dont know. I have very little winter fishing experience. I have caught some nice fish deep in March however and shallow to for that matter.

    Biker

A tough looking group of bikers were riding when they saw a girl about to
jump off a bridge so they stop. The leader, a big burly man, gets off his
bike and says, "What are you doing?"

"I'm going to commit a suicide," she says.

While he did not want to appear insensitive, he didn't want to miss an
opportunity he asked "Well, before you jump, why don't you give me a Kiss?"
So, she does and it was a long, deep lingering kiss.

After she's finished, the biker says, "Wow! That was the best Kiss I have
ever had. That's a real talent you are wasting. You could be famous. Why
    are you committing suicide?"

"My parents don't like me dressing up like a girl......"

Same old story, loads of dinks and only 1 keeper!! Weather is lookin real good for next week, may head down to Guntersville. I met a guy the other day who guides there. Maybe by the time you get here in April I'll have Guntersville figured out! It's only about an hr. drive.
Even if you could get the boat out of the garage I doubt you'd get far with those 5 ft. drifts!!!

Deep water fishing is all it is about in April here. I am looking forward to our trip in the spring. Will we be fishing tree tops, or brush?
