    Default That's a wrap!

Hit a couple of lakes this weekend in the evening. Didn't set the world on fire but put together a meal. Tonight was probably the last crappie outing for the year for me.

Heading to Indiana for the dove season opener this coming Saturday. Grouse & woodcock opens here in Michigan on the 15th Sept. I'll be off to northeast Minnesota the 1st week of October then to the North Maine Woods the 3rd week of October. Everything else in between will be local grouse hunting.

This was my best year of crappie fishing ever, by far! Attending crappie camp and meeting some great people was a highlight that I'm looking forward to again next May.

I'll be watching here regularly and hope all of you have successful, fun & safe fishing trips!

Sounds like some cool trips. Jeff and I are headed to Minnesota as well, we're chasing perch rather than grouse and woodcock. Post a few pictures of your trip, you can even do it right here. Promise you won't get detention for it.

Had a successful dove hunt in Indiana. Landowners dog helped keep us company.

To keep this crappie relevant, we had a great fish fry Saturday evening before the dove opener. Name: 20240901_223307.jpg

Just before Michigan's upland opener I bought my first SxS, a Weatherby Orion 20ga sxs. It seems to work just fine and each of my Llewellins, Rip & Trace, have gotten their first ruffed grouse of the yearThat's a wrap!

Wow! Beautiful dogs! First birds are special. Still remember the details of my long past labs first pheasant many moons ago. Enjoy the MN trip. Sparty and I are just finishing up a trip there chasing perch.
