If there's one in that lake I'm sure Jeff will catch it. His catchin' ability knows no bounds

Sorry it took a bit to post, but been fishing the last three days and whooped after being on the water each day. We were definitely a long way from home. Little Lost trying to find some fish too. My FIL Ron and I made a plan to hit a few fresh water lakes as the gulf coast were I am visiting was not going to be favorable for fishing the salt after fishing it Tuesday. The first day we decided to hit Griffin. Was suppose to be a cool night the night prior, but wind forecast was 9mph. It was probably double that with rollers/white caps on the main part of the lake when we got there. Boy, cool was understatement, it was pretty cold with the wind even for a couple northerners. We started trolling an area out of the waves/wind but the water clarity was really poor, especially compared to the last time I was on that lake fishing with Slab a few years back. Thought it would be fun to sneak in his backyard and catch a few fish and see if he could guess where we were. Well, after a couple hours I decided it was best to give up on that. We were having no luck and I needed a little inside info as I wanted to get the FIL on some fish. As luck would have it as I was talking with Ed, my FIL landed the first fish. Ed gave my some info and we tried it out. We caught another nice one, a short and 3 bass

before we left for the day. We also got a bonus visit from Ed on the lake. Thanks Ed for giving Ron the CDC hat and coffee mug, made the trip even better for him.
The next morning we decided on another lake closer to were we were and launched into Lake Hancock.

We made our way across the main body of water that averaged 5ft and went into some deeper back bays by going under a small walking bridge. We ended up casting jigs and plastics into the edges of the brush and overhanging trees. I hung up on a tree and backed the boat up so the FIL could reach it for me. As we approached the loudest, deepest roar I have ever heard on the water came from the brush. He proceeded to break my line and told me I had plenty of jigs in my box and to get out of there as there must have been a bear in there!!! We fished on and rounded the corner. Now I know where the roar came from.

Probably one of these guys siblings!!! Well, the scenery was cool and seeing gators was a treat but we didn't find fish. So, we loaded up and went to Lake Parker close by. There, we were able to boat a couple more crappie and lost 4 more during the fight in the brush they were holding tight in. Great days exploring on the water.

Beautiful scenery and caught a few fish here and there. Sure beats shoveling snow back home!
