Default Very few crappie, plenty of off species

I played hookey from work on Friday and tagged along with vbottom on a crappie fishing adventure. The lake we went to usually has a decent fall crappie bite but we managed to put just three in the box. That doesn't mean it was a bad day, we had steady action all day. We were long lining jigs and plastics and just got our lines in the water and I landed a small bass and a 9" perch. Jeff was next with a pair of 17" walleye. I got a couple more bass and Jeff got another walleye. It went on like this all day and about an hour before dark we had 3 crappie, 2 9" perch, 2 9" bluegills and 9 walleye in the livewell. On our last pass through the "honey hole", Jeff hooked up with walleye #10 to finish our 2 man limit, a big, hard fighting brute that he lost at the boat. Oh well, 9 walleye is still a very good day. Biggest walleye was 23" and the rest were 17-18.Name: IMG_20211015_135348314.jpg

Way to go…. There hasn’t been much crappie activity here in a long time.

They were shallow, 6 1/2-9 1/2 fow. Ate some during the MSU football game and they were tasty.

Yeah, Gary, it's been pretty slow on the Michigan page. Work has kept me from fishing much.
