Default Is having cold feet a bad thing?

I had a few hours today so I decided to throw the gear in the truck and head down to my early spring honey hole, a canal on a private lake that when the bite is on is you tube video worthy. When I got there I was disappointed to see that the dock wasn't in yet. That makes it harder to reach the best spots but I was hoping to still catch a few. After 30 minutes I was ready to throw in the towel, I hadn't had a bite.

I took a gamble and made a cast over some brush, hoping to reach my "hot spot". The wind cooperated and after a couple of twitches I hooked my first crappie of the day. Once I figured the wind out I was able to get my jig and baby shad where I wanted it and was rewarded with several nice eater sized fish. Then came the oh s*** moment. The wind swirled mid cast, my line dropped into the brush and a crappie bit as soon as my bait hit the water. I tried to drag the fish through the brush but got hung tight and busted my line. There I stood watching a crappie hooked tight on a jig that was wrapped tight in the brush. Now what?

The only thing I could think to do was strip off my shoes and socks, roll up my pants legs and wade out into 50* water and retrieve my fish. Once I got my gear free saw that I would be able to reach my best spot if I stood in the water and I figured what the heck, I was already wet, I may as well make a few casts. Man did it pay off. I ended up with a 25 fish limit, mostly around 10" fish with a few bigger and a few smaller. I can tell you, when you're getting bit on every cast your feet don't feel near as cold. Here's the fish that I saved from the brush along with some of the brush I saved it fromName: 9983.jpg
