Yesterday we got our 3 deer processed and in the freezer. I bought a new LEM 3/4 hp meat grinder to make burger.
Steve Jr and Grandaughter Ava were in the UPHMS for their evening hunt and Jr dropped 2 does in their tracks, Ava got video footage of the kills so we hope she got enough interesting footage to make a YouTube video of their hunt.
Saturday we will process those 2 deer and have a family dinner from the bounty God and my farm provided for us.

both you guys are going to have some full freezers!
i knocked a couple down this weekend as well, meat deer.
processing middle of the week , other than fish , my freezer was pretty well empty.
i have tried a decoy a few times, with less than good luck , couple times deer saw the decoy and RAN!
i no longer use a decoy :)
Good job. Put them into the freezer so we can lower our auto insurance.
As for a deer decoy, I have had it work, it took some time, to learn some good things to do.
When I first got it, every thing took off running as well.
Always out it out in the open, never in thick brush or cover. When in close, they are startled, as there is no sound, they freak and run.
Wriggle something white, handkerchief, or non scented toilet paper into the tail. A slight breeze will make it appear to move.
If there is a small hill, so they can see it from a distance, please it there, Antlers on decoy, will pull in Bucks when in rut, but not does. Bucks will go downwind, to get nose to nose to a buck decoy. so have buck decoy facing you. So make sure to place it upwind, at least 50 yards and facing towards you.
If its a doe decoy, place it broadside also at least 50 yards.
I have had best luck, when they see it form a LONG distance. Had deer cross fields before. However up close and in brush, for 20 yards or less for Bow hunting, not so much.
I need tog et 1 or 2 more, hopefully this weekend during the Thanks giving break, Ill get some more.

now that you mention it , i had the decoy in field edges when it did not work , partially in the brush....
do not need one for gun hunting anymore... i have a 450 :) if i can see them..they are in range! love the 450 bushmaster!
We still use the decoy occasionally while Firearm hunting, We are not allowed to shoot deer on the other side of the river, but allowed to track them.
The land owner on the other side of the river is the SON, of the Land owner of the 8 acres I hunt & they do not get along.
Kind of weird as their own kid wont even give them Venison, so we pull out all the stops we can to get them on our side of the river. Its tight quarters on the 8 acres, but the river bank is less than 40 yards away. I have watched many deer walking along the bank on the other side.....
We put them down, and get them cut up, take some to the owners, I supplant that with some Walleye, this year Aunt Gretchen wants burger & small roasts for 2. Uncle Fred wants Jerky.
I gave them the inside loins of the first deer, they did NOT want the backstraps that I offered them,
I know a guy w/ a 350, thinks he a legend of some damn sort....:Rofl
I’ll keep the Legend
Does what I need it to do
