Default FrankenCrappie - Jigging his first w/ a mixed catch

I spent Saturday @ Pier Marqutte Lake jigging for Salmon. Was frustration as they were there, rolling on the surface, but not biting.

A bit of information was that they (Salmon) were doing the same thing @ Muskegon.

So, after some texting, trying to line people up to go, I went to bed @ Steve Ash time, (Before 9pm) Woke up Sunday @ 3:00 to a text saying "Ill be there".

Got the boat ready, hooked up, and Skillet arrived, and away we went to Muskegon. Drove in the rain, a short wait at the launch for the wind to die down, and then headed out.
We checked a few of my regular Salmon Jigging locations, and nothing was on the graph. Zig Zagged the channel, and nothing there either. SO we headed out trolling.

We covered ALLOT of water, when I mean ALLOT, I mean from roughly 6am, until 4:30-ish pm. We had one hit the entire day, and it was a HAMMER, and then suddenly nothing.
We reeled in what was left on the line to find that in less than 5 or 6 seconds, it was able to straighten some wire on the snap swivel. Right then and there, Skillet & I swapped out all the swivels I had like that, and removed them. I was pretty frustrated, not that I lost a spoon, but it was a mechanical failure, not a "Hey you did not tie that knot very well issue" I guess that does meant that everything else is solid and ready though. We made 2 more pass's in that area, and nothing.

So we headed into Jig. Got to a spot where we were @ Last year, which is one of my best locations, and shortly after arrival, I look back, and Kevin says I'm snagged.
As what ever he was snagged on was headed for Wisconsin.

After the realization that it was a fish, it was game on, we watched it come out of the water only once, and we were not disappointed, it was a KING.
When it was close enough to get ready to net, in Skillets excitement, he's like, "Why didn't you net it right there" Had to advise him "I NEED BOTH HANDS ON THE NET" These are not Walleye.
Chase it around to the other side, and a quick scoop and its in the net, & boat.

After that and some fist bumping, and me trying to get some one form C.C to jig up a King, I was all smiles. More so that Skillet. See he was HOOKED, in less than that amount of time, he was back in the water jiggin for another, smile on his face. I how ever was all smiles as well. After two years, and many failed attempts, (Last year with Stephon, Lake did not cooperate, Skillet last year, I got one,m he did not, & Last year, Spartan, w/ Just Stephon, the weather changed, and it was blistering HOT, and the run died that day.) I had done it, got some one else on a King.

Skillet looked back at me and I was all smiles. he just smiled, and laughed but after the third time looking back while he was smiling, he told me I was creepy, stop smiling at him. We then laughed, but kept smiling. I'm still smiling.

We ended up with that King, a keeper Walleye, and then also jigged up some SheepHead, and one of the biggest I had ever seen, and then a Cat as well.

It was not what we wanted, but we will take it, and a great time, watching Skillet fight that beast.

I now have some one beside me, who has caught one, and can tell the story, and the difference between a Salmon & Walleye.

    Still SMILING.
