Default What we're doing with our money.

Our spring camp was not only a great time but also successful in raising a little cash. In the past we, as a group, have donated to different causes through money raised at our camps. This year we raised 400.00 which, after talking it over with Jeff and Michelle, we are going to donate to Lions Bear Lake Camp in Lapeer, Mi. bearlakecamp.org This camp is geared towards special needs children and they host a number of week long sessions for children with different types of special needs. Michelle has volunteered to be the point man for contacting the Lions Club to make the donation. In addition, she is going to try and set up a work bee for any of our members that would like to donate some labor to the camp. We have some members with special skills, strong backs and big hearts that could make a huge difference to an organization like the Lions Bear Lake Camp. Stay tuned for future updates and thank you all for your generosity.

Great job and thank you to Michelle for finding such a great and worthy cause!

From sending less fortunate kids to camp, helping fund special needs camps, putting together tackle boxes for our youth, and donating slightly used fishing rods and reels, Michigan Crappie Dot Com members should be proud of all of the things that we do.

I'm really hoping that we can put together a work bee. Giving money is great but giving your time and talent is so much sweeter. If any of our out of state friends want to add to the donation, shoot me a PM or go to the Lions Bear Lake Camp web site.

Me too...and I'm always available. Heck, I might haul rig over to Metamorah/Hadley SRA and camp out for a week and donate a few days to the cause.

I talked with Dennis Tompkins from the Bear Lake Camp and filled him in on what we are wanting to do for them. He told me they will be doing some work in the campers cabins this fall and will need help with painting, moving beds for new carpet and lots of other small jobs. He'll let me know ASAP what the date for this is. They also have some bigger jobs that need more skilled labor that will be done in the spring. This involves work on handicap ramps and repairing the exterior on the nature center building. I'll post as soon as I have more info.
