Default Master Angler, Pranks and Gratitude

This started about a year ago on the Detroit River, fishing with OE and Spartannation.
All year I have been getting ribbed abut being his Net Guy, Master Angler Netman awards and such.....yes it got a little old. But OE had his reason for the constant "reminders" as was evident when a package showed up on my porch.
Thanks Aaron......I "get"it now why you wouldn't let it die.....and this custom rod will have a story to go with it.

That was a FUN Day for sure, and Steve was/is correct, I didn't care, and had a jig back in the water jigging while Steve was hell bent on getting it measured.

When he was grumbling about there being "No Award for NETTING", I had to snicker, and thought to myself, "There ought to be......"
At the time, I thought that day, I could build Steve a Rod for Walleye for next year. At the time, I didn't know when where or how on the delivery.

The delivery is the story, and I have to THANK Steve, for not Hating me, for ribbing him, every so often about being my Net man. I know it was under his skin, but I had to keep him focused, so that it would be a COMPLETE surprise.

I built it the best I could with information from Steve. The thread, I color matched to his Chevelle that he sold for boat $.
3 coats of Gold, 3 coats of Red, (Steve is reading this now, going "That's why he was talking to me about that...........") made a burnt orange/copper color. I had to lie to Steve and say a guy was asking about his car to get him to send me pictures, so I could color match as best I could.

I already had his "Haulin Ash" Logo, and worked with a local graphics shop to invert to a black background, and make some color changes so it looked excellent on a black back ground, of the rod.
Finally got it size'e that I needed, for the project. The second Logo near the first eye, the Ribbon is 29 inches from the handle, so that Steve can instantly measure any fish he thinks is a MA, in case he cant find a tape measure in his excitement.....

Steve has no idea how many time's I wanted to show him, and see if he would like the colors, etc, but I refrained, as it would ruin the surprise. I was so nervous that I would spill the beans I refused to take pictures of it....... lol
