I got the dutch oven seasoned and it came out fantastic. Threw some pork loin and chicken breast on the grill, took a shower, ate and was just waking up from a nap about 6:15 and got a text from my youngest daughter. I totally forgot my niece's wedding and she was checking to see if I was still alive (her words). Being I usually leave such events by 8:00 or so, I decided that I'll just send a card and stay right here in my chair tonight. Heck,I don't even know where my dress clothes are. Maybe I could have wore a Crappie.com T-shirt, shorts and sandals.

My garden isn’t doing so well
Looks like tomatoes will be fine but my cukes, zukes and pickles are not thriving

In the process of getting the old Troy bilt tiller motor rebuilt for next years garden.

Chris and Jr. Went over and retrieve a big trailer load of his stuff, was pleased to see there wasn’t any confrontations.....

Went to GR yesterday, Judy talked me into buying more fishing stuff, brought home some big water trolling Rods, but Cabela’s has very few reels in the stock right now....like maybe 10% of normal, salesman said they aren’t restocking right now.....so Judy couldn’t talk me into getting new reels because there was nothing there!

Plans for spending a day this weekend on the water were put on hold, looks like a trip to Menards for a couple more cabinets to put in the quilting room, glad to see her get back into it she has made some beautiful quilts in the past.

Although I wanted to sleep in today (whatever that means) Charlie has his own schedule.

I've heard reports of up to 12 inches of rain in some areas of Wexford county. Not good when the soil is dry. We finally got enough to at least wet my fields.

My cucumbers are just hitting full stride. I train them to grow up a piece of woven wire fence and usually they get to the top or just beyond. This year they are over the top and back to the ground. Somehow the nursery got a couple of lemon cucumbers mixed in. I thought I got some kind of melon until I looked them up. My tomatoes look good but seem to be way behind, just getting zucchini and summer squash and the green beans are about a week away. Radishes were all top and my beets look good. I need to pull weeds today.

Mine wrapped around, through and over their fencing. Radishes took 3 weeks to grow and mature. My climbing beans are up and over the fencing and my squash is out of control.

Banana peppers are well but Jalapenos have been chewed on. My tomatoes look good but are putting more effort in to vining than fruiting. The swiss chard that came up is outstanding and we have enjoyed two cuttings already. One broccoli took a bug hit but the rest are well along with the cauliflower. I grow all of this in a 12x12 raised garden as well as the outside 18 inches along 3 sides.

In other news, power is out again! They estimate Tuesday evening. Thankfully I have a generator running my freezer, garage door, fridge, microwave, hotwater heater, and well along with my master bedroom and living room.

My weekend giggle was wrapping my boat in “Caution Tape”

To protect it from Steve. (He was dropping off some stuff and no one was going to be home)

The idea was that Steve would walk in and look and think WTH?

Which he did, but I was chuckling, and giggling to myself the whole time doing it.

I probably had more fun doing it than, Steve’s reaction of shock.

    Still laughing to myself.

Power came back on last night around 5:30 then was out again by 6:30. Finally back on a little after 7:15.

Honestly wasn't a big deal. Everything that needed to be running was running. I don't have any sort of television that I get (cable, satellite, whatever) so that wasn't a big deal either. The humidity was gone and I kept the house closed up tight so it was nice and cool inside.

I did not end up going to Houghton Lake this weekend for that fishing event. The one in a million times I make the right call!

Our garden is way ahead.Started picking when we got home from up there. Zukes and squash almost done. That's okay, put up about 20 meals worth, been eating some and giving away a bunch. Green onions out the wazoo, in 2 buckets. About 40 ripe tomatoes, gonna freeze most, many more on the way. Grape tomatoes like crazy. I just eat a couple every time I walk by. Put up a couple gallons of shelled peas. Green beans kinda slow, just a couple meals worth. Bell peppers and banana peppers cut and froze. Enough for months. Okra real slow, barely gonna make a mess. Last year couldn't give it all away after freezing plenty. Not sure if I will plant fall garden, never have. Freezers kinda full anyway. Jerry we ate every asparagus. Thanks. Also, we hatched a batch of sparrows in a plant. A couple barn sparrows on the front porch. A nest of mockingbirds in a tomatoe plant and have baby blue birds in one of our blue bird houses. Been a good season. Forgot to mention garden is about 22 x 24 ft.

I love this raised garden in my front yard. When I lived in the city I always had an awesome garden. It was small but I babied it and it produced more can goods than we could eat.

10 years ago I moved to my present home/farm. Big tractor so everything had to be bigger. It ended up being too far away, too inconvenient, and too big to manage. I built this for my father in law but he no longer lives with us.

It is easy to manage, easy to weed, can water it with one hose, and am in it every evening. It isn't much work to stay on top of. I had forgotten how much I like it. Still not as good as my two grand fathers but getting there. Pickles are slow, squash out my ears, beans finally budding, and the swiss chard once a week. Soon tomatoes will ripen and I can can again.

Not my normal day at work. I was setting up scaffolding when I heard a BIG BAM noise I turned around and seen the accident literally as it was still happening. I was down off the ladder and ran out to the car as the truck was still rolling down the road and into the ditch. Checked on her first then called 911. She is 32 weeks pregnant but seemed okay but they took her to the hospital to make sure.
