Pretty much user preference, and more importantly boat design. Get what fits and works for your boat.

My boat has wide Gunnels, I mounted a Traxstech Track's. Kevin's boat has skinny girly gunnels, and he mounted the Pink/blue rod holders/system.

I would suggest looking @ your boat, get some measurements, and then look at the available options.
I bought my tracks in sets, my largest initial purchase was the tracks, and two rod holders. The following year, I got 2 more Rod Holders, etc, and now have 6 Rod Holders, and 2 down Rigger mounts, and a designated Net Holder.

As far as price, I wanted something STURDY, as I do allot of Salmon fishing, and when a large one whacks a Diver, there's allot of torque and wanted to make sure my rods stayed connected to the boat.

Steve is waiting to see that..... For some reason, I only catch Prince Salmon, not King Salmon when he is with me. Is it overkill for Walleye & Crappie, Yup, you bet, but I make them work.

Another thing, is look at the accessories, as well, I use my Salmon rod holders for Walleye, but saw that Trachstech makes adapters for Drift Master rod holders for $10.00
I need about 2 to 6 of those adapters, and I can swap out my Salmon, for Driftmaster and make Crappie & Maybe Walleye a bit easier.

Just thoughts and Ideas,
