Years ago I lost my deer hunting spot the day before the opener. I wanted to go out and the only option I had was a hunting shack my dad had on a 40 he owned. The property was open fields and the blind was in a bad spot but it was all I had so I packed in a camp stove, frying pan, coffee pot, lots of food and water, a radio and a book to read. To top it off, I had a hunter in a fence row 80 yards north of me with the wind blowing from him to me. About noon I had my boots off, coat off, radio playing classic rock, chicken breast frying and the windows open to let the heat out. I caught movement to my left and there stood a nice 8 point, 30 yards from the blind. After I dug my shotgun out of the corner, I filled my tag, then finished my lunch before gutting and tagging my buck.
The older I get the more I realize the therapeutic benefits of fishing

    For this keeping track,

I am finally up, cooking some breakfast.

Then to work, heat the garage, and start to play with sharp knives.......

Been out twice, 7 does. Not even a spike yet. Gotta figure out the right pattern for a buck if I'm gonna avoid buying someone else's jerky this year.

    Well,

    Back straps are done.

I ACCIDENTALLY, cut a bit to much........

They are at least one meal light, as lunch is due up.

I’m going to have fresh Back Strap, and Eggs for my lunch.

I may even take a video and send to Steve, for making me feel bad about my 4 deer blind protein bars yesterday..........

Just kidding Steve, I didn’t feel bad, but needed the energy for the end of the day after all.

    My lunch is ready..................

I usually remove the rib meat, and cook that with my eggs, however, I was a little slice happy, and over trimmed (maybe on purpose) and am having some thinly sliced Back Strap with my eggs.

    Figure I deserve that.
