Default Catching Crappie at Six Lakes

I got a phone call Wednesday morning from Jerry asking if I needed some Friday therapy, fishing up at Six Lakes. I answered that a directive from my social director would be required but as long as my work was done I was a definite maybe....

That night at dinner I mentioned Jerry’s call to my Social Director and Judy said, yes go and have fun! Jerry said Jeff was still in kneed of therapy as well, so plans were set into motion to meet up early at Jerry’s and leave from there.

We were on the water about 8:00 a.m. and started trolling.....it did not take long and I had a nice keeper crappie in the boat, then Jeff got a couple as did Jerry.

We were catching Crappie for Mrs. OE, and it was determined to keep 10” and better, releasing anything less. All total we caught about 75, keeping 15 for Jennifer.

The Crappie bite died about 1:00 so we switched to slip bobbers, hooks and red worms to see if we could entice some bluegills to join in the Crappie catch, however only one keeper gill joined in today’s creel. We wrapped it up and we’re off the water around 3:00.

In lieu of pictures I have attached a short video of what we were using and the beautiful day we spent on the water up at Six Lakes, Michigan

You should have seen Steve's Go Pro harness. Red Green would have been proud. I looked like a combination of broken ratchet straps, binocular harness, pieces of vinyl siding(no, I'm not kidding) and who know what else. But, hey, it worked. The bite was a LOT slower than last week end, the water was close to 2 feet lower and there was little current today. Also didn't mark the huge schools of suspended fish. Still had fun, though. Nothing like being in the boat with friends, talking a little trash and doing a little harassing. Good times.

I wondered if it was high H phone version 1 which predates the I-phone or a go-pro. 25 dollar underwear but won't spring for a harness. Sounds about right

Got Queen Jennifers crappie cleaned this morning. We had some real nice fish, I got almost 1/2 gallon out of 14 crappie and a 7 1/2" bluegill.

And all five pair are worth every penny!

I don’t have a go pro yet, it’s on my Christmas list though.

For now I’m using my iPhone to begin with......since I don’t know if they make a iPhone chest harness I made my own using a binocular harness, a piece of canyon blend vinyl siding to attach the phone case to (an extra) which I cut out an area to operate the stop and go button. It’s crude but it will get the job done for now.

Funny. My guess was a bino harness.

How fast do you troll? Couldn't hardly tell you were moving.

Larry, I don't have GPS, I judge speed by watching how fast weeds, bubbles, etc. pass by the boat. I'll play with different speeds every trip till I find the sweet spot. If there isn't anything floating I'll sometimes spit on the water to give myself something to gauge our speed by. I would guess somewhere between .5 and 1.0 mph. Not very scientific but it seems to work for us.
