Goof off? This was some serious C.C business we were doing. And a therapy session for Jeff's knee. And a 350 mile round trip to buy a 1/2 pound of cheese.
I guess maybe it was a goof off trip, the boss is right again.

Jerry,
It DOES have crappie in it. Quite a few actually. I just never fished for them back in those days. I could probably point out no less than 100 spots that would be killer to catch them in the springtime. The spawn is usually later up there so maybe late May to early June. I remember as a kid standing on an old beaver dam way in the back of Seaton Creek. I used to catch a ton of fish off that dam. Anyway, on this day I remember 100's of crappies on top of that dam getting ready to spawn. As luck would (or wouldn't have it) I did not have a rod with me at the time. I might have been 12 years old!
Like I was saying earlier, there really wasn't a great source of minnows around and we really didn't use artificial at the time. If we did catch any crappies, it was by sheer accident! I spent the large majority of my youth fishing this body of water. I also skipped a ton of school to ice fish it!
I have a great story from an old boy that used to own a trailer park on the East side of the lake. I could launch my boat for free there because I was the only person that ever stopped and talked to him and spent time with him. His own son lived across the gravel road too. His son tried to throw me out one time for failure to pay. He advised me that he ran the show and his dad didn't have a say. The next day I came back to pay and was told I NEVER had to pay!!!! I guess that is what you get when you stop by, see an older gentlemen, lend an ear to his stories, and give him a cold beer that he isn't supposed to have.
Oh, the story is about the Sturgeon population that USED to be in that location. Remind me to tell it to you sometime.
I have OCD "Obsessive Crappie Disorder"
Jeff and I talked about it this weekend while we were in therapy (wait for the report) and have pretty much decided this will be the location, just have to wrap up a few loose ends before a formal announcement.
