    Default Vector file?

There has to be someone who can point me in the right direction on this question.

I had a artist draw up my Haulin Ash image and he recently sent it to me....now I’d like to have something printed up with that image.

Print shop will ask for a Vector file, to infinitely size/scale that image to fit on anything I may want.

What is the process to take original artwork and make it a Vector....

I’m guessing it ends up being something that I can email to them?

    Steve,

I have a copy of that .PDF, there are a few different types of Vector files.

Do you know what type or files extension this vendor wants?

I can look at work Monday and see if the new marketing lady had Adobe Illustrator, and may be be able to convert for you.

The reason they are asking for a “Vector” file is A true vector image can be scaled to no end, with no pixels or distortion.

So as small or as large as they make it, it still looks proper.

Correct, the finished product would be a file you can email to them.

All of them will take vector files in AI format (adobe illustrator). Some programs will allow you to save a jpg, pdf, gif file as an AI file.

Besides scaling, the biggest reason for vector format is COLOR.

What a normal person sees on a photo as blue or light blue in jpg format might not print exactly as it looks. Vector format puts a code to the color. With vector, there is zero distortion between what the photo looks like and what it prints like.

In vector if 0002 is used as blue, then the code will always use 0002. In jpg, gif, or pdf, blue has zero code attached. Just shade. Which verys greatly.

Also, vector format looks at everything as a photo. The background is white, the image is something else. With jpg, gif, and pdf, the background is part of the photo. So, you print a pdf and you get the picture with white background. Print it on blue vinyle and you still have the square white background. Vector allows you to print JUST the photo on whatever color you want. You can also make it transparent. Where the print materials color shows through the photo. Can't do that with other sources.
