Default Three days of friends, fun and fishing.

As most of you know, this past weekend was the spring camp for Michigan Crappie.com. It was also the first time I was able to attend a spring camp. I was lucky enough to be able to team up with my neighbor and friend, Jeff (vbottom), and his wife Michelle to rent one of the rustic cabins available at West Houghton Lake Campground. With the addition of a mini fridge, a camping stove and an air mattress, we turned it into our home for the weekend.

After spending Thursday getting reaquainted with Houghton Lake, we spent the evening wandering from camp site to camp site meeting the other attendees, both from Michigan and from out of state. It was quite an honor to finally meet Slab, Billbob, "D", Wicklundrh, readytofish, crappie 1, crappie 2, steelguy and yankeedoodler. We also got to visit with some old faces, JustSteve and fishingcouple.

Friday brought more fishing, more visiting during Liars Club and some good eats, along with a few freebies compliments of Slab. Oneida Eagle and skillet007 were able to make it for liars club.

Saturday started out bright and early with all the fishermen, fisherwomen and fisherkids hitting the water. Lots of fish were caught and some of our out of state guests were able to catch fish they had only heard about but never seen. Danny and John ( "D" and his cousin) were bothable to catch walleye and northern pike and Larry and Sandy caught a nice mess of huge bluegills. Overall, I would say the fishing was fantastic!

The fish fry and pot luck was unbelievable and the quantity and quality of prizes given away was a fantastic plus. Thanks to all that donated or hustled for donations. The first group shot of Michigan "Team Overalls" was taken and a lot of BS-ing took place. I also witnessed many unselfish acts by CDC members throughout the night. What an incredible experience.

I have to thank "D" for the jigs. He gave me a few hand tied and the "grey ghost" caught a bunch of big bass for me. Thanks again Danny, I'll see you in November at D'arbonne.

I have a few pictures to share and know that others will add more. Name: 6565.jpg

I can only add, that Judy and I had a great time! We truly enjoyed every minute we spent with old friends and making new friends.

I personally had two very enjoyable days having Billbob and D in my boat.....I was thrilled to have you guys in my boat to fish with.

Food was out of this world! Thanks to all who made and cooked the food!

I have some pictures to add as well.....

I will have some stuff to add when I get to my computer. For now, Us, Billbob, Ed, and Larry and Sandy are still representing.

I love when new people arrive, they bring their spouse, and are amazed by the camaraderie that you will see at these camps. It really makes you wonder why we are the lucky ones attending. Maybe it is why we talk of it so much.

Special thanks to Ed Moes (Slab) for all that he does along with his generosity.

Thanks to Ms. Jeri for getting Case plastics to donate some awesome things for the kids!

Thanks to Off Shore tackle for their great donations. We missed you guys and you would be proud to see the amount of boats pulling Off Shore Planer Boards. I'm proud to help represent your company.

Thanks to Jarrod and Tyler for putting on a great show. You guys did awesome!

Jerry, I love Jeff's trophy photos!

Jeff, get with Steve or me so I can get that plate engraved and back to you. I look forward to seeing Stanley Cup photos of all the places you take Wilber!

I forgot to mention that Jeff "vbottom" won the crappie tournament that was held on Saturday. His is the first ever name to be etched on the Wilbur the goat traveling trophy and, as you can see, he will have no problem taking a few Stanley Cup pictures with it. Him and Michelle might need a bigger bed, though.

It was indeed a great camp! Was great to have Danny, John, and wives along with Ed and Billbob attending. Was good to meet new people and reacquaint with old. The kids had a great time and that was priceless!

Thanks to everyone who pitched in to make it happen.Name: 20180609_155810.jpg

What a great weekend. Saw old friends, met new friends from here and south. Enjoyed the food and think I was able to at least sample all the dishes brought. Caught a variety of species and cleaned a few fish....and yes the best part was being able to have our boat place so well at the end of Saturday. Thanks to all who worked to put the weekend together..
