Thread: Splish splash

Our first day fishing didn't go so well. We were up at daylight and had our rods rigged, boat loaded and on the road before 9:00. We chose Caney Lake for today due to it not being affected by the heavy rains like many of the lakes down here. It was in the high 50's with a light wind and, surprisingly. we had the lakes to ourselves other than one other boat. We scanned the deep water out from the levee and it wasn't long before we marked what we think were clouds of bait fish with bigger fish around them. Jeff dropped a jig with a Bobby Garland shad in electric chicken and caught a crappie right away. Shortly after that I caught a twin to his fish on the same color. That's about when the rain started and when the rain startes, the biting stopped. We stuck it out for a couple more hours and finally decided we were going to call it a day. I also decided it's time to get new rain gear. The only thing not wet on me was my socks, thanks to my rubber boots. As I set here in the house, it's still raining hard. Tomorrow promises to be a better day.

Both fish were caught in 38 feet of water and the water temp was 58 degrees.
