I guess it qualifies in the “that” category.

It’s nice to know the west side fishery has nice fish.....after fishing with OE last summer the only specimen I saw was that 10” trout I caught fishing with him.
Maybe Kevin knows where the bigger fish are.......
Kidding aside (maybe) I had a great time despite my finger tips being cold, Thanks for the warmers Kevin, I’ll keep some packed in my backpack from now on.

Ahhhhh, and here I thought you guys were going walleye fishing. Then, suddenly, without warning, Kev does a 180 and decides to take you Steelhead fishing! Nice!!!!!!
As for warmers: Two tricks,
1, go buy some of those ZIPPO hand warmers. You probably had some when you hunted the UP. They work awesome wet or dry and will last you about 10 hours.
2. Menards was selling electric warmers last year. You charge them with a standard USB charger. They too work wet or dry and last about 6 hours. For hunting, I like the electric (no smell) for fishing, I like the Zippo and the fluid (simply because I already have them).
The hand warmer packs are a great backup but they don't work when wet. They also don't put alot of heat through a pair of gloves. On the plus side, you can put them in your gloves.
Another trick: Purchase the toe warmers with the peel and stick adhesive. Stick them inside your thin gloves so they are on the BACK of your hand. Dextarity is lost through the carpals and metacarpals and blood flow runs through the back of the hand. I started doing this years ago while steelhead fishing. I only wear a thin pair of glove liners. Manzella has been my go to pair for years however, this last year I switched to GILL liners and absolutely love them.
Nice Steelie!
I have not put them on the back of the hand, but I have out them on the inside of my wrist. Works well, at least for me. I may try the back of the hand.
I was up in Saginaw over the weekend, large fish from the Zillwaukie Tourney was 14.35# Walleye. Winning weight was 34# or something close to that.
I may go back up this coming weekend and chase some Walleye myself.
OE
I knew about putting them on the back of the hand trick. I do have one of those Zippos, and I did use them deer hunting in the Yoop.
Seemed to be a lot of Walleye taken by all the posts I seen, a young guy I fished with last spring caught his personal best 30” and 11.13 lbs.

Aaron,
If you go chasing Walleye, make sure it is in the Bay and NOT in the river. River closes the 15th!
I used to get geeked up about catching the big girls. I always throw them back though. Don't much like the taste of them. Then, one evening with my dad, I caught more of them than I cared to remember. We threw back 9 fish over 10 lbs with the biggest being 14.75lbs. It was in the pouring rain when nobody was really fishing. In fact, we threw back so many big fish, we didn't even bring our limit home. We had a slot limit simply because we don't like to eat those big fish! Never was one to put one on the wall either.
Again, fun to catch though. I'll be chasing them soon on Erie as I have pretty much sworn off the Detroit river this year.
Hit a canal south of Hastings today. Should have stayed home. It had skimmed over and I had limited places to drop my minnow in. No bites today but it's getting very close.
Well David and I completed our river round up today in the snow, wind and a bit of sun. We started about 730 this morning at the battle ship. The bite started off pretty slow, it began to pickup once the sun peaked out of the clouds, but then would slow right down when it clouded back up. We picked through the all the juveniles only keeping 15" and better the largest was about 26". No pigs today but all real nice eaters. I caught most of mine on emerald ice fin-s with antifreeze head and blue ice with multi colored head
