Nothing beats Bacon, eggs and tators fried up in a cast iron skillet with a cup of perc coffee..I've tried to replicate for Mrs vbottom but I think I miss the key element of being on a fishing trip...either that or I'm not as good a cook as this guy.

Saturday mornings I get out my cast iron and make the Beats a tent traditional breakfast. I do like cast iron, I have a griddle that was my grandmas.
Jerry how do you make your biscuits?
I have a Dutch oven I use to make soups but I know it is capable of a lot more, just haven’t tried any yet.

I cheat on the biscuits, I buy biscuit mix at Gordons Food Service. After they're mixed I bake them in a 6" cast iron skillet that has been buttered. 400 for 12 minutes.

Finally had those gills we got ice fishing a couple weeks back. Fish, french fries, baked beans and coleslaw. Had plenty so Dad had a fish dinner as well.
Funny thing is he and I only fished together once or twice but give him a fish dinner and his 92 year old memory starts talking about lakes and fishing trips in his past.
This is the only trip we did together..... this year I am going to slow him down enough to go fishing with me at least once.

I only got my dad in the boat a couple of times. He said that he liked to go but spent the entire time thinking about all the things he had to do or could be doing, which is funny because we were camping at the time. I spend my time thinking about all the fishing I should be doing.
