Been up since 4am. Not by design. Government shutdown happened. This is my third one in 22 years. The only three in history. Boy am I lucky!
The bad part is that I am critical mission essential. Which means I have to go to work. Unfortunately, I don't get paid until the shutdown stops. Last time it took 5 weeks to get a check.
Funny in that it actually violates the fair labor standards act. Any organization would be fined if they had employees work and then paid them when they wanted.
Another fun fact. All non essential employees basically get free vacation. Both shutdowns previous, back paid them for work they didn't do.
I blame both parties. With something like a spending bill, it is stupid to lump other non negotiation things in. At least they didn't kick the can down the road another month.
And, we have not actually passed a spending bill since around 09. They have done continuation bills. Which means, inflation goes up, but you are still spending money on 10 year old costs.

All I can do is shake my head......
I don't want to get into politics, I will just say I can not stand to watch the news anymore. It's not that I bury my head in the sand because of events happening.......it's just I stay more sane watching fishing shows, MASH re runs and hanging out with you guys.
NFL can go away as well.
