Went to GR yesterday to pick up vanity, counter top and mirror at Williams, then a quick stop at Cabelas. There must have been a ice fishing seminar cause I seen a couple guys in clam clothing on with people standing around them. I didn’t buy anything but did some looking. Then Aiden and I did lunch at the 5 guys and fries place. On the way home looked at a couple lakes which had ice on them.....I’m sure not safe ice.
Up this morning with the coffee pot going, I’m certain I am not a fan of light roast coffee. Might as well drink tea, but I got a gift package of it so I can’t throw it out.....I just mix 2 scoops dark to 1 light.

I was up early, too. Had coffee about 5 and then discovered that Knucklehead had puked on the carpet. Got out the paper towel and stain remover and was down face to face with it and found out it came from the other end. So, at 6am I was running the carpet cleaner.....in my underwear. Isla will be here next week and I didn't want her crawling around on nasty carpet. Ran to Wacousta with recyclables then to Meijer to return pop cans. Enough work for one day, now it's chicken wings, lions football and Spartan basketball. And maybe a nap.
I checked the Ice on most of the lakes around me...Holland Lake was froze but had Geese on Ice in the middle so they probably have it open out there..I walked out about 8' on Pearl in town and it held me but it's really bad ice 3-4"...
Jerry, I know what you’re going through too well right now, our dog (Wilbur) is having trouble controlling his bladder function. A couple times we woke up to his mess in the kitchen and living room. I’d start washing the linoleum and Judy would start shampooing the carpet. After a couple times we can’t trust him anymore so he sleeps in the gated off laundry room. I get up at midnight and 3:00 am to let him out, Judy lets him out at 10:00 pm and 5 am.
I know his time is short, his legs are beginning to fail and he has a hard time getting up to walk.
I know what I’m going to have to do, it’s inevitable and I don’t want him to suffer.
Funny how a dog gets so attached to you. When my other lab had to be put down, I cried like a little baby. ( not ashamed to admit that).
And on to other things....I now have a coffee grinder and a fresh bag of “Crappie Coffee” in dark roast

that my niece/adopted daughter sent down to me for a early Christmas present! I even drank a couple cups yesterday without any caramel macchiato creamer in it.
Finished up the body shop addition on Friday, and as Rod wrote the check he said he had some more stuff needing to be done if I had the time, so back I go this week.
Bathroom remodel is almost done, possum (my son the plumber) came over and put in the toilet and set the sink in the vanity I put in and of course minutes after he left the fixtures show up in the mail.

My dog sleeps with us. She gets up 4 times a night to potty, plus has an accident at least 4 nights per week. I'm a laundry washing god! She can not be trusted during the day so she spends it in our bathroom. I get to clean up because I'm home first.
She sleeps all the time, is deaf, but will eat and play and isn't in pain. She is 15 and her time is short. That day will come, but we will enjoy her until then.
My very first dog was a chocolate lab named Rusty..worked with him to hunt pheasants..I wasn't much of a trainer but he played along..we hunted over him and he did ok..one time I took him over to the state land alone and worked a few fields..one in particular he got hot and was running all thru, up and down the field..I ran out of gas trying to follow and finally gave up chasing him figuring he was on a rabbit..bird goes up and I shoot from way back with a clean miss. (I'm not much of a shot either)..After the miss he turned and looked at me like he couldn't believe he had done all that work for that..eventually he lamed up and I would feel awful leaving him...he would sleep by the gun all night before a hunt... he started messing the house, thunderstorms where the worst. Amazing what we put up with for a dog..part of the family..kids could lay on him and eventually he would just look at me like please get em off me..he grew gray in the beard..lived a good long life..still wasn't easy to put him down when I knew it was best as he was in pain and even at the end would try to fake it. Steve, I too cried like a baby when we had to carry him into the vet on a blanket cause he couldn't move...

My last dog was a black lab, Sadie, and sister to Jeff and Michelles black female, Maddie. She hunted a few pheasants for me, wanted to ride in the back of the truck not the front and was an outdoors dog by choice. She didn't like coming in the house. I had a dog house for her full of blankets and straw and would shovel snow over it, leaving a hole just big enough for her to get into. On bitter cold nights she would come in and lay by the wood burner but only long enough to get warmed up, then she wanted to go out again. Sometimes she would walk down to see Michelle and get a treat, then walk back home. My son is 32 and still says that Sadie was the best dog ever. I would take her ice fishing and she would run all over the lake visiting with the other fishermen but never got into trouble. When I had to put her down I tried to take it like a man, and I did when I was at the vet's office, but it broke my heart to come home without her.
Jeffs right, we put up with a lot from our "best friends". Knucklehead is a totally different dog than Sadie with a totally different personality but he is as faithful as she was and even when he soils my carpet, I still let him climb up on my lap and take a nap if he wants to. And I'm sure I'll shed a tear on his last day, too.
I know I can get one member here drooling at least............
Just thawed 16lbs of Venison Jerky.
Starting the concoction now.........
