Kevin is already in, he wants to go already.

Depending on the run, I will take a weekday off for it, maybe 2 if the run is good this year.

OE, that's why I picked Morrison, there is no home lake advantage. If you've been reading my and Steves reports we've told everybody where, when, how and what color. Everybody will catch fish, even if I have to give them the jig off my line for them to do it. Bring the wife and kids, too.I was thinking of a score sheet for each person, maybe something with the sizes already on it just put a mark after the length for each fish. Maybe only 8" and bigger get scored. Catch and record as many as you want, just the 25 biggest count. It's more for fun than profit, heck, we could even donate a % to the crappie camp fund.

I'll look into places to meet afterwards. Sessions is close but I'm not sure if they have a picnic area, maybe the beach??? Might be a park in Saranac or Lake Odessa.

Like I said, I'm in, just let me know what kind of help you need and I'll get Steve right on it!

I'm in it for the laugh factor anyway.

    Default Uncle Don's coffeehouse 2018

Weekend after Labor Day is out for me. My niece is coming up from Indianapolis for a visit that weekend.

Judy and I took the grandkids to John Ball zoo yesterday which they loved, then off to Cabelas for a salmon jigging/mahi-mahi spinning rod.
Stopped in to OE’s for a couple test jigs (bottom fishing ocean) picked up some storage boxes he got at work (Jerry yours is here) and was shocked to see Aaron bought a new ENGEL cooler! Not a igloo one with felt marker insignia, but a honest to God authentic Engel!

Got home and fitted the new Penn Battle 2 reel on the newly purchased rod, spooled on some 30 lb. braid, connected a 20 lb. flouro leader and a duo lock......I’m all set!

I had been thinking we were going to go fishing, and I would surprise Steve w/ my New Engel. It never worked out. I had been waiting for the right time since June.

So when Steve was on his way over, I placed my Authentic Daughter Modified Engel on top for Steve to see. Had to have him distracted for what was next.

Steve’s standing in my garage I tell Steve I have a surprise.........

I uncover my Engel35, and Steve about fell over........

After a couple of seconds of recovery, Steve grabbed it, hoisted it up over his head and ran to his truck to show Judy.

“He’s GOT AN ENGEL, it’s REAL”

I also have a few of the ice packs, and those are AWESOME, I have not bought ice since getting them.

The funny part was since June I had been texting Steve that I was taking my Engel, and I had all sorts of humorous reply’s about “Fake Engel knock off’s.

All the time actually taking my new Engel.

I couldn’t wait any longer to surprise him while fishing.

Side notes, Engel does offer Military Discounts.

I then spent the rest of the day teaching myself to paint my Salmon Jigs.

    Jerry,

    Those are 2oz & 3oz.

They are armed with a VMC or Gamagatsu Siwawsh 4/0 Closed eye hook. I can not find them ANYWHERE in this configuration.

Long story short, they work better on Salmon. Earlier this year, I was 4/12 with my Salmon spoons with manufacturer trebles, & it wasn't because of dull hooks. After some research, and a little bit of "Remembering" I switched a few spoons over to the single Siwash.

I am currently 12/14 with Siwash hooks & Salmon. I initially started this with my Salmon Jigs, and then went did some reading and convinced myself I "Could do better" and transferred that over to my Salmon Trolling spoons.

These things, will hook that fish right in the jaw. 3 things can happen, Either the fish is going to rip its entire jaw off, break the line, or a mechanical failure of sorts.

Last night Skillet & I were at Muskegon, and we got one on a spoon. You can see the hook through & wrapped around the Jaw bone. It was only going into the live well at that point.

Kevin also got the big or should i say BIG FISH of the night as well. I don't have scales, and we didn't bother to measure it, but we are eating well. the people next to Kevin were, well, not kind of but in total AWE, as he cleaned the fish for the night. We went 2/2

    I’m confused

Why does the hook set under the fish’s jaw?

Seems like it should be in the fish’s mouth as he was trying to “eat” the bait/hook?
