Aiden cracks me up. We need to get that boy out fishing again.

I spent the day with my daughter, Stacy, and granddaughter, Isla Jean. We watched the morning news then went out to visit my mother. She's 86 and sharp as a tack. For dinner I fried up some perch, bluegills and crappie and made red skin french fries. After dinner I let Isla pick out a book for grampy to read to her. Look what she picked! That girl has potential.Name: 11133.jpeg

    She's growing fast!

And she probably picked out that book for you to read so you can catch more crappie and less gills......read it well Sparty and you just might be the next name that goes on Wilbur!

    Enjoy that family time!

Gotta hand it to him, that’s about as honest as it gets.

    Steve,

I have a photo of building an addition on our old house with my dad. I was 3 at the time and wouldn't work without a nail apron and a hammer. We were putting the floor decking on after the joists were up. My dad would get the 8 penny nails started and then I would finish them. He said it sounded like a wood pecker. I remember two handing the hammer to drive the nail the last few hits (probably one for a normal hitter). Eventually, the sound stopped and dad looked over. I was fast asleep. I still have that hammer to this day. I kept it all those years. I still use it for brads too.

Get him his own hammer, nail pouch, speed sqaure, and tape. I'll bet he wants to go again. Put him on decking duties with a nail gun, or a screw gun. Remember, kids can do anything as long as you teach them. Show them once to follow the lines to put decking down and they can do it! Teach them about a tape measure. More importanly, teach them and SHOW them wat 1/16th is, 2/16=1/8 and 4/16 = 2/8 which equals 1/4. The reason I say this? Because this is how I taught tons of kids when I tutored Math how to know and understand fractions. With a tape measure. This is how I also taught Abby. They can be learning and not even know it!

I did notice that he has on his T-Shirt from Crappie camp. I always enjoyed reading to my daughter! I especially like being able to make up whatever I want. What is even funnier is when someone else hears it or when they get older and know that you are not telling the story how it is supposed to be told!

Rich, I figure I have to start Isla early if she's going to be as good at catching fish as Abby. Those old In Fishermen books make me laugh, not the content, a lot of that is still good info, but the pictures from the 70's and 80's.

Had my dad over for a fish fry tonight. Fresh walleye, French fries, homemade coleslaw and baked beans followed up by strawberry shortcake with biscuits and cool whip.
He had a big second helping and said he was too stuffed for shortcake.......Judy made him one to go for later.

I treasure the time I get to spend with him.....as he left I said “ I’ll see you tomorrow “
He quickly replied “I hope so”.....93 years old and still has a sense of humor!

Steve, I miss my dad every day. Enjoy yours as much as possible while he'a still around.

Isla got to see her first fish yesterday. I don't think that she's impressed. Name: 20180630_200109.jpg
