That's a fact Jerry. I can remember coming home to a note on my dad's garage door.
"Borrowed your chainsaw, back the day after tomorrow"

Two days later it was back. It was all clean, came with a brand new chain in the box, the old one sharpened, and 2 gallons of gas. Still no clue who took it.

I've lived in this house for 9 years. My southern neighbor is 100 or so yards. His name is Don... or Dan... or maybe Dean. We spoke once (9 years ago). He is or at least was married. I've never seen her outside but see her car leave. I am convinced she is locked in a pit in their basement being forced to "put the lotion on the skin"

Good morning y’all from a mountain top motel in Dalton Georgia,
We made pretty good time yesterday despite 4 traffic jams on I 75, one being a semi accident. Looks like his trailer axles broke free of the frame as they were in one spot and the semi crashed into the concrete wall. Hope the driver is okay.
Now the long drive through Georgia and dreaded Atlanta....

I know right where you are. If you hit Atlanta mid morning or mid afternoon you'll be OK. Best to take I-285 around the west side. Safe travels.

I made it a point to schedule our meeting with the notorious traffic at Atlanta for mid afternoon on a Sunday and it was still crazy. On our return trip we went west to Mobile and north.

Made it through Hotlanta pretty easy for how bad it can be. Came into the northern edge about 9:30.

Judy is driving now, traffic is light. 96 degrees and humid. Not suit weather but it’s inevitable.

That I-75/I-285 interchange can be a pain. When I go to my daughters, I take 285 east to 400 then back north. Or I used to. Now I get off on 92 up by Allatoona Lake, go east then south on 400. Much easier.

I decided not to take a bypass and stayed right on 75.

Possum flew in about the same time we got in Orlando and Jr got here Sunday.

97 degrees and humid, time to get out the Gold Bond powder.

Rich, I want to say that your last post was awesome. I too help my neighbors all I can. They are in their nineties and I just enjoy any thing I can do for them. Makes me feel blessed to have found them. But what I wanted to say, I'm sure was not your intention of writing the post. I don't know you that well, but I can tell you are good stock. And that post elevated you in my eyes to "HERO" status. You are the type of guy parents are proud of. "D"

    Thanks Danny!

One of the main reasons I have liked this site since I joined in 2009 was the fact (I say it all the time) that we are all "Like Minded" individuals. Many of us do things on a day to day basis for other people without the need for acknowledgement or acolades. We do it because that is the type of person we are. It was just fitting that, it was fathers day, and he was more worried about me spending time with my family. Mine understands who I am and the things I feel I need to do. I don't ask for much and am blessed with what I have. It is a yearly thing that my daughter fishes with me for fathers day (sometimes close but not on the day). She doesn't need to get me anything. That is her present. After all the work was done, I was treated to a nice steak dinner by my family so it was worth it in my opinion. Besides, what was I going to do, sit in the chair all day?

The follow up to that story was the neighbor called me Tuesday evening. He said he stopped by the property and was glad that I got the fertilizer in because of the little rain storm we got Monday night. He asked me when I thought I could plant? I told him it was all done!!! I planned it that way. I got it all in on Sunday so that the lord could make it rain on Monday. Just as intended!

Funeral is over, military ones always get to me.....Taps, folding the flag and presenting it to the widow.....I’ve said it before I’ll say it again, I’ll always be indebted to those serve.

Rich....couple good posts, you are a god upstanding man, something we should all strive to be in this life.
