Sounds like a nice, relaxing vacation. Glad you were able to get on the water and put your wife on a few fish.
Judy and I made it down to our friend Floyd’s place Thursday afternoon, he had pre warned me we may not be able to fish given how rough conditions may be, but we still wanted to visit. Judy and Floyd were classmates and she hasn’t seen him in probably 30 years....so this trip would be fine, fishing or not.
Looking at local weather predictions Floyd thought Friday might be our best shot, so Floyd, his fiancé DeAnna, Judy and I gave it a try. We motored from Stuart down to Jupiter to pick up bait....it was a rough ride, 36 mph was as fast as Floyd would go......any faster and we were getting beat to death from the rough sea. We picked up bait and headed out to a area Floyd fishes often, he put me at the helm and showed me where I needed to go to hit his waypoints. He busied himself getting out the lines, the ladies would be catching any fish.
It wasn’t long and I could hear that distinctive sound of line being ripped from the reel, and Floyd saying come on Judy, we are about to catch you your first fish!
Together they landed a nice King Mackeral......I was so dang happy she could expierence the thrill of ocean fishing. Judy went 3/3 on the King fish, while DeAnna caught a nice mahi-mahi.
And then it went dead, we headed back to port as DeAnna had an appointment at 2:00 anyway. She went to her appointment, we cleaned out the boat, put gear away and cleaned fish.
Weather being to rough to fish we then took in some sights, visited the Florida Keys and seen the devastation hurricane Irma dealt them, the middle Keys in particular Big Pine Key was hit hard.....very sad.
Yesterday we did some shopping, then headed to the boardwalk and marina area......we don’t want to come home
I did get a couple leads for coming down in the winters to do carpenter work, so I’ll follow up on them and see if anything comes of it.
From this trip Judy got a great appreciation of ocean fishing and I hear talk already starting about our next trip....Life is good!
Now back to Orlando for the nieces wedding, Then back to Michigan.....hope the snow holds off a while.

Only thing I hate about salt water... Washing the boat when you are done.
Anyone that knows me well, knows that I've washed a vehicle once in 15 years. I "might" have sprayed my boat off once!

You’d really hate it then.....wash exterior and interior with sudsy water including all compartments and lockers. Also rinse all rods, reels, downriggers, bean bag chairs and flush out both outboards
Takes about a hour or better with both he and I doing it.

Judy’s Mom has a Philipino friend who asked if she could have any “fish heads” so when we cleaned the fish, we also saved the heads for this lady.
She makes fish head soup and was thrilled to get them! I guess it’s quite the delicacy ......I told Mom if she offers to bring any over, I am not trying it!
I think it’s great that the whole fish gets used, I understand we love cheek meat from Walleye......I just couldn’t get past the part of brain matter and eyeballs in my bowl of soup. I don’t mean to sound “A better than someone else” attitude, but brain matter and eyeballs...... ???
This Phillipino lady said she uses all fish species as long as they are not poisonous.
At any rate, we will be making more smoked kingfish dip with what she caught......I think I’ll bring some to Jerry’s ice fishing outing, sounds like it’s making ice up there.
Be home in a couple more days, done visiting. Been to Bass Pro shop Orlando enough I got my fill. Drove over to their Marine Service center to ask what a water impeller kit for my 150 would cost.....I’ll be looking elsewhere, theirs must be gold and diamond studded at 225.00. And their Mercury hats aren’t cheap either but I needed a souvenir.
I wish I would have brought my camera phone in, there had to have been a 18” or better Crappie mount on their wall!
Highlight of our vacation was this fishing trip, had enough of big city living time to come back to reality
