Default An explanation of some confusion...

So it seems like there was a bit of confusion surrounding the Fall Gathering, or to be more specific, around the communication. Apparently some folks were not present during the conversation at the Spring Camp. The outcome of that conversation, in a nutshell, was that due to the historically smaller attendance, we would refer to them as a "gathering" and not put forth the effort that we do at the spring camps.

That being said, it doesn't mean that they are any less important, just that with limited time and resources it might make more sense to focus on the spring events with regard to money spent from the treasury and prizes. The fall events would be low key and less formal. This approach seemed to meet with the approval of everyone that was in attendance.

Going forward it appears we need to make sure that whomever is going to facilitate an event communicates ALL information concerning the event in the form of an "official" post(s). If those who are facilitating an event need help with that, there are many members who will be willing and able to do so.

I am glad that despite miscommunication with this last event all went well and it seems like those who attended not only caught fish (yeah!), but also had a good time.

Michigan Man and his brother (?) are facilitating the 2018 MICDC Spring Camp and have banners, funds, some prizes and support for the cause. They will be posting developments as location and dates are determined.

If I have omitted anything, please feel free to post it up. Thanks.

Don, maybe it's because I live my life in a constant state of confusion, but I thought things went along fairly smoothly. This is my first camp ( or gathering ) but other than moving the fish fry back a couple of hours due to the heat I didn't see any problems, liars club went smooth as silk as did the huge meal we threw together.

On second thought, Jeff and I had one minor issue. They put us on a lot that was under a walnut tree and setting camp was accomplished with one eye to the sky to keep from taking a walnut to the coconut. I even asked the lady at the camp store if they sold hard hats. She gave a funny look, then told me no, they didn't. "How about a cooking pot the size of my head, we're under the walnut trees" She got a big laugh out of that. I'm happy to say, no coconuts were harmed over the weekend, but we did get the crap scared out of us a few times.

Don, Rich Kevin, Larry and Sandy and any other regulars, I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you but I'll see you at the spring camp.

Jeff had a real good time, too. I added that because he doesn't say much.

Gad the Ole coconut survived Jerry. There were lots more "newbies" at this event and I'm sorry I had to miss it. Spring will be here before we know it.

I will be posting some additional information tomorrow when I get to a computer.

It will be in regards to our club funds, money needed moving forward, and monies available for donations for charities.

Both Jarrod and Tyler have a great handle on the spring event for next year and planning is well underway. It takes a big effort to put on a good event so if you would like to contribute, please get ahold of them.

    More to follow tomorrow.
