Default tough day at Half Moon-Patterson Chain

Why we went I do not know. Storms ahead of the cold front had tree limbs down that had to be moved to launch at Half Moon , the water though was clear seeing at least 6-8 Ft. deep on all but Woodbine . NO wind till we got to Patterson , found BlueGill brother caught 1 , saw them on the depth finder, dropped anchor.and the sky opened up. So we hurry an put up the Bimini top. the rain quit ,and then the WIND HOWLED . Anchor would not hold so we pulled out for a sheltered drop off or Bay. To sum it up , graphed fish. Tried all the GULP stuff I had ,also spinners ,Jigs , grubs , cranks, evens worked some spoons. Brother and his Father-in-Law caught 8 good Gills ,all on red worms. Me, I got skunked. But we were fishing; and had fun!

That's the way it works some days. I enjoy every trip out fishing whether I'm catching or not. I do have to admit, catching is MORE fun.

Sounds like a rough day on the water! Hats off to you for sticking with it.

IF we had quit Fishing , we would had to go home and do the wives work list....takes some really bad weather to stop a fishing trip!

Went Back yesterday , fished from 7:30AM to 4:00PM on every lake in the chain caught an released 10 small blue gills ( less than 4 inches) used live grubs , red worms , minnows , and GULP. Slip bobbers ,plan jigs ,gold hooks, red hooks , crank baits. Even asked a few fishing near-by using crikets, and they were not catching . Only thing we saw catching fish was a Lab retreiver wadding along crabbing them out of the water.( they were small) Best part of the day was when my brother got launched off the front of the pontoon when his father-in -law was trying to cut across a sandbar on Patterson. Got a good 5 Feet of distance before he hit the water, lucky no damage to motor or kid brother. Most likely our last trip there for awhile.

I thought about going yesterday until I remembered that I had obligations.

Wish I could get back to not caring whether things get done or not
