Anyone ever been to Northern Exposure on Hodenpyl in Mesick?
Okay, so we have narrowed down the dates of the Spring camp to the weekend of June 10th and 11th. Now we need a place to go.
Originally, we were looking at lake Missaukee as a possible venue. There were however a few issues with that location. One being that the campground is actually part of the county parks department and, for lack of a better term, their reservation system sucks (not really a system). The main issue however is the fact that they require a MINIMUM of 4 nights stay.
SOOO, that place is definately OUT!
We were trying to find something centrally located for this years camp but we are having a rough time of it.
If ANYONE has any ideas, now would be the time to throw them out there.
Basically asking for any ideas, locations we have not been, locations we have been but we might want to go back to. We are trying to find someplace other than Hardy. Not that we don't like Hardy, just that we have been there for a few years now and are looking for a bit of a change.

Yup. Lived 10 minutes from there (other side of the lake). Graduated from Mesick High school. Could write a book on the entire impoundment from the M115 bridge clear to the dam, below the dam to Red Bridge, and from Tippy dam to Lake Michigan.

I've never been here so I can't give any review, but my niece likes Burt Lake so well she made it our family event to go camping in late June.

just a thought.
I might add, it's not full hookup.......might be a dealbreaker for some.
Trying to stay a little more centrally located!!
Electric is a must. Full hookup isn't a huge deal as not all places have water hookups. The biggest issues come from "Rustic" spots. We don't want those!
Doesn't have to be a state park either.

So what we need, in no particular order, is electrical hook up for campers, cabins for those who don't camp, pavilion for festivities, easy access to the water, central location, fish, and a place to keep the goats.
There is Lincoln Lake in Kent County. Centrally located, 440 acres, Lincoln Pines Campground, The state record crappie was caught here. Never been there, just an idea!
My vote is for houghton lake, our favorite rockbass location.
