Drill through from the outside!

Here is what we do:
Remove the pads and cut the pin off flush.
Put in new pads (with holes).

Run out to the drill press and drill a through hole. You will see a dimple on the top of the clamp to run the drill through.
Make sure the drill hole size matches the Pop Rivet you are going to use.

Take a pop rivet (I use stainless steel) and drive the arm off it. I hold the rivet with pliers and slam the point down on my work bench. This will remove the rivet shaft and leave you with the rivet. Insert it in to the hole on one side of your release. Some guys epoxy it in place. I do not!

You can purchase shorter rivets at the hardware. That rivet will run through the one side, produce a metel pin, and enter in to the other side of the clamp. You will never saw off another pin again.

I cannot do an article and demo on it however I can shoot you some photos. I'll text them to you Jimmy!

IF by chance you are using a 3d printer, here is what I would do:

I would print two individual halfs of the release. At the back of the release (infront of where you install it on your board), I would put a through hole for a small stove bolt and jamb nut. This way you can take the two halfs apart.

On each half I would glue in my pads. In the hole of one of the pads I would fill it with epoxy and utilize a hand made pin. The leftover pop rivet shaft would work. So would a stainless crush sleeve we use to make stinger hooks. Glue it in to one side only. After it drys, put the two halfs together. You should be able to pinch the clamp and the pin comes out of the NON glued side without issues.

IF you do have a 3d printer, let me know, we may want to work on a few ideas I have!

The image you see was created by a 3d scanner that create a point cloud of a part, I use this daily to scan parts and compare to cad for accuracy, the point cloud can be sent down stream into other software for reverse engineering

This is what our company does is rapid prototyping, so yes we have 4 machines for creating parts from cad, ours our liquid resin and cured by a laser which creates a SLA part

Even though I manage the shop it's still hard to seek something by,,but when it comes to machining a part that's a different story

Stolen from OE. The perfect pee jug for the boat (or truck if you travel a lot or work construction). A small laundry detergent jug with the pour spout removed works great and has a spill proof screw on lid if you need to wait till the next stop to dump it. Good idea, Aaron.

Yesterday I made a batch of summer sausage. I had to grind pork and venison and I stuff the casings with my grinder. Cleaning the meat out of the holes on the grinder plate can be a pain but an easy way is to use the air blower attachment on your compressor to blow the meat out of the holes. Either stretch the hose out side or hold the plate down inside a garbage can to keep from making a mess.

Jerry a old butcher told me to run some saltine crackers through it, cleans it up real good.
