Thread: 12V plug help

Check fuses. Make sure meter is set for DC volts.

Make sure the meter is reading volts and not millivolts. Definitely check fuses.

It would help a bit to know what the switch does. It looks like some kind of single position switch wired to two things, (Maybe??? hard to tell from the pic) and like the others mentioned, check your meter, 59 volts is a very odd reading. Even if you had some kind of 48v system in your boat, Lead Acid batts fully charged are 51.6 and Lith batts are 54.6.

It's not a switch, it's an outlet (cigarette lighter for the older guys). Two wires on hot and two on ground. One set would be from battery and the other set going to feed something else.

It is a 12 v cigarette plug.

I'm helping my brother diagnose this and you hit the nail on the head as to what I told him. Dang V reading has to be wrong. I'm stuck on nights and he was hoping to have it running for the holiday

Lots of times on a Digital Volt Meter it will auto range down to the lowest scale and display that. They can fool you for sure.
