I have a Yamaha and I use Yamaha oil.If the book says use Suzuki then I would use Suzuki for warranty purposes.

I use10-40 Mercury quick silver in my 2017 DF9.9 efi kicker and my 2005 DF 200 don't know if it's better or worse, but you can purchase it practically everywhere.

I agree. Also keep your receipt for the oil until the warranty is passed. That way you can prove it got what was suggested.

I get shipping it without oil, but it didn't include any?

Can't take much more than a quart, so I'd go with what is recommended at least initially for warranty purposes.

I have a 9.9 and a 25hp Suzuki and run 10w30 Mobil 1 full synthetic in both of them.

Took her out yesterday with my son. It runs amazing. I do have a couple questions though. I used Amsoil marine oil and did the initial break in of 15 minutes several days ago. When I first start it, the red light that is a trouble indicator comes on for about a half second, then goes off. Is that normal?
Also, steering seems to be a little more tricky. Maybe it was due to wind and maybe the shorter tiller handle? This handle is a few inches shorter than on my old Merc.

The shorter the handle from the pivot point, the more sensitive the steering will be.

The light coming on briefly should be normal. It is on my Yamaha 25. Both warning lights kick on and go off within a second or two.

Very nice! I bought a Merc 9.9 off online outboards in December 2020. Has been a great motor for me so far. Probably have close to 300 hrs on it.
