    Default 4 stroke motors

Hello fellows, just bought me a new boat with a 75 horse power 4 stroke engine, this is the first 4 stroke I have ever owned. My concern is does this motor have a timing belt or chain. If so how hard is it to change, and at what hours, is this a interference motor or not. It’s a 2023 mercury.

Mercury has a module called Vessel View. It plugs in to the ECU of the motor. You can then open the app and get all the details of the motor. Any alarms, trouble codes, motor running conditions( temp, oil pressure, water pressure, fuel consumption, etc) also gives you service intervals of the motorName: Screenshot_20230325_095505.jpg

$248.06 with free shipping is what I'm seeing on the Mercury website. I have the same exact motor coming on a new boat. Should be here in 2 weeks. Still considering whether to get it installed on my rig. It would probably be money well spent. I'm expecting this to be my forever rig.

Definitely interested in everyone's opinion on this.

The app is free. The module looks to $220 on Amazon

yep this is going to be my forever rig also. I put a hour meter on it. After spending the money on the rig don’t know if I can talk the wife into spending more on a module.

IMHO it would be money well spent as a preventative maintenance tool. PMCS for us Veterans…

That is the reason I got it. Certainly gives some peace of mind. I prefer to maintain my own stuff instead of having it done. It let's me keep an eye on what the motor is doing

Gonna place my order today. As someone who does everything himself if at all possible, this should be money well spent. I'll find out for sure tomorrow but I don't believe my new ride has a hour meter. At least it was never mentioned.

I told my wife I wanted a new fancy boat. She said do you want a place to live or a new boat? I said I would think about it!
