I mounted mine in the back of the boat. I ran the wire to the starting battery with a fuse.

I thought about putting it in a switch. I am certain I would forget to turn it on so it is hard wired in the battery stays on a charger maintainer while not in use so no concern off it running the battery down

Anywhere with 12V power is fine. Stay away from the TM power cables when mounting it. Make a test run with it taped in place before you drill any holes. Better yet, don't drill holes at all. I mount my pucks with 3M Body Molding Tape.

I powered mine off the Master switch at the dash. Actually, I ran a wire off the master switch to a 4 circuit fuse block and use it to power my Heading Sensor, Ethernet Port, Mega Live, and Mega 360. 1 switch turns them all on/off.

Similar to how I do it. I added a 20A switch to a blank spot in the console which feeds a dedicated circuit to the fuse block for all of my electronics. One switch turns everything off.
