Thread: Lowrance Elite FS Yellow wake up wire

Problem(s) solved. I just wanted to document this here for the next poor schlub.

Lowrance Active Target documentation says connect the Yellow wires from the black box to the graph (MFD as they call it). The yellow wire is the trigger to turn on/off the black box.

There are 3 problems:
1. Active Target module has(maybe had) bad software and the yellow wire does not properly trigger on/off until updated. - Connect yellow with red wire temporarily. - download update onto SD card.
2. Some graphs (maybe not the FS series) also require software updates before the yellow wire will turn on. - Download update on SD card or connect to WiFi.
3. The FS series are shipped with 3 wire (red, black, & yellow) power cords, however the yellow is not terminated (no pin) in the plug. - The power cord will never work. - Replace power cord with HDS or old model power cord.

Don't be like me climbing in and out of compartments, doing headstands, and tie everything up all neat and tidy BEFORE testing.

I'm generally a Lowrance guy all the way, but this was a terrible experience. Also be very careful with the ducer connector, unlike all other Lowrance connectors, you can bend the crap out of the pins.
