$559??? Holy cow! Where did you spend your money? I purchased a disc hub and paid $129 with bearing & races installed. The hardest part is getting the trailer manufacturer to give you the correct part number. I want to say this looks like the Karavan quick lube set-up. I hate this design so much. LOL

The INTENT of my comment is to educate our community that there are other options. Not to argue over if it was "Money well spent." Some might be on a budget and $559 might sideline them. There are many trailer parts stores out there selling parts for our boat trailers. This includes the part numbers the manufactures are selling, but at a fraction of the cost. In some cases these companies will have your parts to you in few a days.. Again, my intent is to educate, I love our sport, I love my boat, I love going to the lake, and if I can, I want to do it is often as I can. Saving money on parts, means more fuel in my truck and boat to enjoy what I love doing.

Needed to replace the axel as well because the hub grinded pretty decent into spindle (see post #7) so had to replace all parts. I got it from Eastern Marine website, BuckeyeCrappie sent the link in the first page. The axel everything is already connected just install onto trailer.
    $559 total - $80.78 shipping - (2x $129 hubs, bearings, races = $258) = 220.22 for axel
Never bought axel before but don't think thats a bad price considering its 88" long and galvanized

I understand, however when it comes to certain parts I will spend a little more knowing the quality for the long haul. I have no desire to sell my boat and I still have to travel a bit to the lake. I knew of Eastern Marine and would do business with them again. If you have other options or websites you recommend, I'd greatly appreciate the information for future reference!!

Glad your rolling again. I'm lucky that there is a TexTrail trailer products store not far from my house, so no added shipping costs. I had to replace my axle, tires and springs 3 years ago. I bought a Dexter galvanized axle. After the install and a 50 mile round trip to the lake i checked the wheel bearing, no problems, added more marine grease..I had to slightly tighten up bearings after an estimated 500 miles.

griz, thanks for the reminder. I have a brand new still sealed disc hub for a 2016 Karavan trailer that needs a home. I have the training and means to fix just about anything with metal and repaired the original hub and shaft. So, I kept the new one in garage. Well, that boat and trailer has go away and I'm stuck with a hub. Maybe there should be a FREE/Pay it Forward thread in the trade area. SLAB what do you think? :P

I had the same setup on my 16' pan fish special. The buddy bearing caps were completely worthless. No grease was getting to the bearings. I went to Wolf lake. 50 miles away. Didn't notice the problem till it was time to leave. It was to late to get the parts and tools I needed to fix it.
I had to hide the boat and lock the trailer until the next day. "Thank God it wasn't on a weekend ". Had $3000 fish finder and livescope on the boat.
With out grease a pothole can break the bearing
