    Default Installing rack and pinion

    Hello all
I'm installing a new steering cable on my boat and I'm having a problem lining up the pinion I guess that's what it is, with the outboard. Do I have to remove the motor for the install.

I'm afraid if I push or beat it to hard I might it.

Also what type of grease do I use.

    Thanks, blessings

How'd you get the old one out?

I'd say the only way to get it in would be to unbolt and lift the motor up a little ways, or remove the transom cap or whatever that is that's in the way.

Many motors have slotted holes for the bottom two bolts, if yours does, you can just loosen those, remove the top two, and lift the motor with a floor jack pretty easily.
Thanks mighty thanked you for this post
