    Default Wiring Help

OK folks, I recently bought a 1980 Ebbtide Dyna-Trak 160. A 16 ft Bassboat. Some kind sole in the process of stealing the battery cut wires and just threw them back in the hole. What I'm hoping is someone might know where to find a wiring schematic for this boat. Ebbtide was bought out by a Chinese holding company and is no help...Thank you in advance for any help. Eric.

A photo of the wires may help getting it sorted out

What you will likely have is a pair of heavy gauge wires, those are for the outboard and also feed the controls and gauges. If you're able to follow them, or if they have any identifying marks, the positive will usually go to the starter solenoid, and the ground to the engine block.

There will also likely be a couple of small/medium size wires that feed the fuse panel, which should distribute power to all the pumps, lights, and any other accessories on the boat. Again, if you can see what color the wires are that feed the fuse panel, you should be able to decipher which is power and ground.

Those should be the bare minimum, but there may also be more for a trolling motor and anything else that previous owners may have added.

Thank you guys. Hopefully momma, my better half, comes home from the hospital tomorrow. Then I have to be real close for about a month, maybe 2, then I can get to work on this. Unfortunately, it's in a storage unit about 9 miles away, so no way to work on it till momma can get around without me hovering around her like a daddy duck...Just trying to get ahead of the ball and be ready when I can work on it...

I agree with both responses. A pic of how they cut them may help us understand your dilemma. What I've seen on older boats at the battery is most are either black (ground) or red (battery positive). you can put ring terminals on the smaller ones and heavy terminals on the starter cables and you should be good to go.

    Send us some pics!

PS: Let's hope Momma gets well soon!!!
