Default need a new trolling motor battery

been looking at a new deep cycle battery from walmart, there are 2 that look interesting, one is the Everstart model and the other is the VMAX series they are around the same price, how do i figure out which one will run my trolling motor the longest. any specific models are the best choice.

What specific models of each brand are you referring to ?? (I ask because equal price doesn't mean equal Amp Hour capacity)

Everstart batteries are wet cell ..... Vmax batteries are AGM

How many amps does your trolling motor pull per hour ??

Note: battery amp hours are listed as how many hours it will run at 1amp/hr draw.

*tip -- if you go with Everstart, don't go with the Maxx series. Their AH rating is lower (114ah) than the regular Everstart 29series (122ah).

I believe they may have quit carrying them, or there's a national backorder on them, or something ... because I can't find them at my Wally Worlds. And I don't see them online, either.

One other trick I learned .... check the mfg date sticker on the battery & pick the newest date. (round red sticker)

Charge it up, check the fluid level & top it off if necessary ....

The Everstart 29DC battery I used for my trolling motor (& Hook 7) has the mfg date sticker of 4/16 (Apr 2016) and has been a workhorse at pushing around my 16' "Bass Boat" w/90hp motor, over 400lbs of angler weight, and probably another 100lbs of equipment. The warranty on it was 5yrs .... 2yrs free exchange, then 3yrs prorated. I think I got my $100 worth out of it, even if I only get to use it for the core charge.

Yeah, I noticed that when searching the web for the 31DC. I also noticed that Sam's Club has a Group 31 battery by Duracell, but couldn't find the AH rating (@1a/hr) ... and the reviews were less than stellar.

I love the Duracell 31. Have one for my trolling and my starter. Trolling is about 3 years old and it usually lasts longer than I do
