The OP's issue is a stripped thread, but good advice

On aluminum a good never seize helps alot. It prevents galding which it the source of a lot of stripped threads.

looking at it at the garage looks like there is plenty of room to put in smaller bolt reverse direction with washer/nut on it and that should work til *I get home and then fix it right. Wife has been trying to convince me to trade jon boat and 2 motors in and buy a new motor.

I would be all over it if she was going to let me trade into a new one

That’s what I did. I looked and found one that’s newer with more goodies and she said do it. I jumped before she changed her mind. Once she saw it at the house, there was no doubt in her mind it was the smarter move. Good luck with it.

I looked at the title, stripped bolt. Heck, go to the hardware store and replace the bolt if it's not a fancy size.
Nope, threads in the bolt hole
stripped. Go to the hardware store and get the next size up in a self-tapping bolt. You'll change the size of the threads from NC, NF or MM to whatever is next.
Looking back I see you did a temp repair. Hope you used a locknut.

Good ole Bill got it done, RIGHT, and works really good. He also replaced some bad spots in floor and repainted everything that needed it. Best friend/fishing partner I could have. Very lucky. Should last a few more years so at my age I think I will keep using this motor but keep my eyes open for a REALLY good deal. Used motors are very very expensive right now and hard to find. Thanks for all the advice/comments.
