Size: 28.7 KB Good afternoon gents and ladies. I changed the impeller on my 2006 Mercury Optimax 150 DFI. I put the muffs on and started it up. Everything appears to be ok but I noticed water coming out from just above where the lower unit seperates. I apologize I have no idea how to circle the area. I just want to know if this normal. I haven’t had it on the muffs a lot but I haven’t noticed it coming out of the area before.

Sorry meant to reply to this yesterday. Check to make sure your water tube lined up and went back in it's proper hole. You shouldn't be getting water from there with pressure. Also make sure the tube didn't come off the water pump housing.

If the tube was not lined up would water still come out the pee hole?

It could if you got enough of it in there that it was filling the jacket. The pump will push quite a bit of pressure. Hopefully that is the problem and not leaking from the pump housing or the seal on the shaft. There shouldn't be a lot of pressure in that area after you get it reseated. Check the tube and make sure the gasket on the housing didn't get pinched when you replaced it.

It’s normal. I didn’t check the gauge. I did put in gear and there was more pressure. I didn't check the gauge either time. Not sure how accurate the gauge is. At idle I get about 2 and WOT I get about 12~14.
