    Default 40hp mariner

I need some help. I have a 1987 mariner 40hp on a tracker guide special. I do not know what size prop is on it currently but do know it is stainless 3 blade. Trying to find a back up but with no idea what size to get. Anybody direct me where to figure this out or have a similar set up that can tell me what they are running would be great.

This might help you. Those motors had different spline count props..you will need to get the boat part or model number. Removing your prop will make certain the count.

Buckeye thanks for the input but I know have seen a prop selection formula that used weight hp and length of boat to ballpark a prop. I have no idea at all on the pitch currently but do know it runs alright at about 30mph. Just trying to find a similar prop in pitch.

Are there any stampings on your prop?

    If you don’t have a 4 stroke it’s most likely a 13 spline.

How do you measure pitch? If I could figure this out i would just buy a replacement in aluminum and go with.
