Around here, most agree that you MUST wind up the old 2 strokes at least once every time you take it out, for a few minutes. I like to do it on my way back to the launch, in an area where the water is fairly smooth and clear of snags, logs, and such. I'm talkin' wide open skint back mode.
I remember having an older friend in the boat with me , and as we were heading back to the launch I mentioned to Him that I generally like to wind the motor up real good right around this area that we were approaching. I asked, "Would that be all right with you?" He quickly spun His fishing cap around with the bill facing the back, and with a huge grin, said "AWWWWW RIGHT!".
He had a blast, and wore that grin the rest of the afternoon and all the ride home!
He passed away in His sleep a few months later. Every time I wind that motor up, I thing of Him and that day, and can't help but grin the whole time!
The way I look at it, it's good for the motor - and good for me, too!!
