Mine is welded , the tongue is 3x5 if you look at from the front there is a 1/2 in thick ear top and bottum each side that is welded on , not a very good discription , plan is to cut the old one completely off and hopefully bolt on the new one
Man, I hate stuff like that.
BTW - is yours welded on? If not, you might get away with just cutting a couple of inches off, and trying a new one in new holes, just an idea if too much shortening is not wanted.
Also, I have seen some trailers that the front was so long that a little off would not be a big deal.

Gotcha, best wishes with it.
Just a thought can you find a replacement that would bolt right over the old one since it is welded already?
I added a swing tongue to my old boat trailer so I could fit it in teh garage. Worked perfect. The beauty of adding a swing tongue is you can lengthen the tongue. Buy another piece of steel, paint to match, or not, add the coupler and feed the wiring through it. If I remember correctly, you can go up to 30" of length on the coupler side. It derates the load carrying capacity of the trailer the longer you make the tongue, but no doubt it won't be much. And 0 change if your only adding in the 6" you cut off.

I have a plan B. Cut off the existing hinge and shorten the trailer side to accept the hinge. Then buy a replacement section of steel to keep the proper length or longer on the coupler section.
