Default 2004 60 hp four stroke Mercury motor won't start

normal fishing day. Going here and there. Then motor won't start. Didn't make a grunt or any noise. Dead like the kill switch was on, but it wasn't. checked fuses under console, fuse box in front of motor, fuses going to batteries, battery charge etc. But i don't have a tester to see where the fire starts and stops.

Took off bonnet and a cover having four bolts and fished rest of day with a rope pull. Then after unhooked from truck and checked around, the trim quit working. It had been working when we loaded the boat.

I'm stumped. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

You really need a meter to do some checking. Even a cheap one from Harbor Freight will do. Is anything electrical working? A good start would be to check all wiring especially at the battery. Can you hear the starter relay click when trying to start? The connections need to be clean and tight.

Not sure you're describing symptoms correctly. Even if the kill switch in engaged or disengaged the starter motor will still spin. Is it doing this? By saying "no noise" I would think starter is not spinning.

With the fact that the trim stopped working at one point, but apparently did work it sounds like it could be as simple as the battery cable being corroded. But as Bill says, without a meter it's pretty much a guessing game.

Definitely sounds like some wires losing connection. Does the trim work using the switch on the motor and not the one on the controls?

The above was misleading, for sure. My bad.
The starter made no sound . No spin.

    thanks

The trim doesn't work using any switch. Neither the one on the motor, the one on the controls, or the one on the front of the boat.

    thanks

The trolling motor and the fish finder both work. So I connected everything to the battery they were on. It didn't change anything.

    thanks

Sounds like you have lost battery voltage to the notor

Take the wires off the battery.
    Charge the battery.
    Clean the posts.
    Clean the cables.
Hook just the motor cables to battery.
    Try to start it.

If it don't start hook your fish finder up and check voltage using readout on your fish finder.

If voltage is good try the trim.
If trim works there's an interruption going to the starter. Or the starter itself.

I believe there is a 20 or 25 amp fuse on the motor but can't remember what all it serves.
