Minkota told me to hook one bank to first battery in series the hook second bank to second battery in the series and leave the jumper wire in place. Been hooked up like that for ten years....all is fine. MinnKota 330D 3 bank onboard charger. One bank on cranking battery two banks on trolling motor batteries.

DSJ and "G" - Thanks for your reply. I originally hooked my units up as "G" described. I think it worked OK. Now because I'm 1/2 dangerous and have some electrical/electronics training, I'm having a problem with the pos and neg leads hooked together. At the risk of creating another potential problem area, I put the switch in for my peace of mind.

Neg lead from load (TM) to neg side of battery one; pos side of battery one jumped to neg side of battery two. Pos side of battery two to pos side of load (TM). 24V output-- all is good.

Now hooking up the on board charger. Pos lead of bank one to pos terminal of battery one. Neg lead of bank one to neg terminal of battery one. Pos lead of bank two to pos terminal of battery two. Neg lead of bank two to neg side of battery two. Now for the interesting part. The neg lead of bank one AND the pos lead of bank two are electrically hooked TOGETHER. (a straight wire between the two) A phone call to MK and battery manufacture suggested the same cure. #1 disconnect the jumper wire while charging. #2 install an on/off switch in the jumper wire (which I did). Now if I can just remember to use the switch.

Nothing to cure. Chargers are fine with leads jumpered together when charging.

As many times in the past, I was wrong, AGAIN! Everyone else was correct on the charger issue. When hooked up bank one to battery one, bank two to battery two, the chargers are designed so they can't "see" the jumper wire, only the battery they are hooked to.
Sorry to create this disturbance. I'll try to do better in the future.

I am also married. We are at an interesting point in this relationship. When a decision needs to be made, we each cast our vote with the results normally being completely opposite. Then she feels that she has to cast the tie breaker. The win/lost column for me looks like === 0- all .
This "keeping peace in the family" comes at a high price.

Now that I have completely run this post off the track from what it started to be, I'll quit.
