well i went with the 55lb endura max, went down to Cabelas and picked it up, i was debating on the maximizer or the reg motor. so i got the max. i was reading that the max model does help on longer run times, but at the same time the max controller is not effective after 40% of the speed, after 40% they both draw the same amps, is that correct what i am reading

The max uses pulse width modulation ( rapidly turning on a off the power to control the speed of the motor. The standard motor uses a set of resistors to contol speed. Until the motors are running full speed the efficiency advantage should go to the max.

Never heard of diminished return on pwm. maybe you do get a little loss but even if it's true when you needed to set cruise at .7 because that's all them fish want you'll be glad you have it. That sucker will last forever. They are built like a tank and are easy to tare completely apart and rebuild.
