Could probably find a caster wheel with bearings in it that would fit . I will have to look into that.

I lube the wheel sometimes. When the trailer hitch is on the ball, crank it up some and lube the wheel every which way to roll, swivel, whatever.
It helps me when I maneuver the boat trailer around in the garage, especially when I want it to swivel.
A few thoughts . My boat trailer wheels change direction better if tongue is lowered (about half way )Also I find that all replacement tires are not the same .
Eagle1 is right.
My trailer wheel turns and trailer rolls much better if tongue is level.
Now if it’s a tandem, those things are hard to move in any direction for an old man like me.

It would be easy enough to drill put the plastic wheel and add bearings

Maybe there's a better solution.
Why are you having to drag the boat to the truck?

I usually swing the tongue over against the wall out of the way. That does require that you arc the front end of the trailer back around to the truck

Lube the wheel, lube the wheel, lube the wheel...
Mine scoots around in the garage and in the driveway much mo betta, try it, you'll like it...
The way the roller is designed it has to pivot 180 to switch directions. At least it is on mine. A careful planned out positioning of the wheel would allow for initial swing of the tongue. But to reverse the motion maybe a precut 4x4 placed under the tongue to let it down ever so lightly on the 4x4 to reverse the wheel would be in order.
