    Default Which hydrofoil

I have a Tracker 175 Pro Team with a 4 cycle 60 hp Mercury Command Thrust. When I get trimmed up it starts to porpoise the front end. Once it starts you have to trim way down to get it stable again. I have read a hydrofoil would help correct this. Which one does everyone recommend

I apologize for not answering last night. Totally slipped my mind. Mine is a Sting Ray. I got a feeling you could find one in a local salvage boat yard for half price. I have taken mine off in years past just to see. I guarantee you'll love the whale tail. I would recommend using good stainless hardware on it with nylon lock or thread locker.

I completely understand. It was better to start this thread instead of hijacking yours. I have looked into them. Thank you

I have used both Stingray, SE Sport, and Shoreline Marine, all worked well. They were on different setups so I can't really compare them, but all were a whole lot better with than without.

I didn't notice any speed loss on the top end. One boat (14 Alumacraft, 25hp Johnson) porpoised so badly you couldn't use more than 1/2 throttle. With the hydrofoil you could run it wide open, handled like it was on rails.

I run the Stingray on my Mercury 115 2 stroke and love it. Biggest difference to me is how sensitive the motor is to tilt trim now. Glad the button is right there at my thumb. I installed a trim gauge right after the install, and now know where it should be for any given speed. Overall, it's a good investment. Shop around, price varies.
The one drawback to that big whale tail design is how you learn to stay clear of it when pulling the drain plug, or other tasks when you are back there. They do have sharp edges!

I like the SE sport but have never used one. I’ve owned a stingray, doel fin , and two home made versions. They work better when they’re sized to the motor. The one on my 40 Mariner is oversized and will one day soon be trimmed down, super sensitive. I think the SE sport and the stingray that looks like it are smaller and from what the owners say they do as good a job.

On the SE Sport... whats your thoughts about the drill vs no drill models? Or any other brands that offer a no drill option? Id like to see how mine would handle with one. Just not sure of committing to drilling holes if Im not gonna get a justifiable improvement on performance.

I purchased the Stingray Senior. It did not fit very well on my motor. The way the column of the motor is shaped above the cavitation plate caused the hydrofoil to sit back far enough the rear holes were almost off of the cavitation plate. I will try one of the the SE Sports.
