    Default Fuel water separator

2008 75hp Optimax....How often should I change the paper cartridge with red castle. At times recently it acts cold collared and sometimes misses line it's starving for fuel. I drained the water collector and still didn't cure it.

Alright I have a new one ready. Just didn't want to throw away a good one. I imagine we run our boats similar....as often and as much as possible. Smiles.

I learned the hard way when mine shut down about 20 miles from where I put in. Motor about a year old and only had 30 something hours. It did crank back up and I headed in. Ran perfect so I decided to fish a little longer but only about 1/4 mile from the ramp. On the way back in, same thing. Talked to my mechanic and he said to replace the fuel-water separator and that would fix it and to change it every six months. No problems since.

Does it has have 2 chamber vst ? Left side where filter screws down. Look when you remove old filter, in bottom of the vst chamber, if lines break down , especially the merc. gray hose. It will have trash.

I Had already sealed it back up before I saw your post. I did redo the gas lines a few years back because of bubbling inside the hose. Red castle is on the left side. Should I pull the filter and check under it?
