    Default Prop question

I have a Tracker 175 with a 60 hp 2 stroke. I went to a 24 volt trolling motor and had to move the 2 batteries to the compartment right behind the front seat post. They sit right below the seat post. The boat rides better and fishes better but I lost almost 5 mph and my rpms are down to 4800. The book recommends 5000 -5500. I know a lower pitch would raise my rpms but will it bring my speed back up?
Also with the weight forward my trim will not pick up the front end like it did. The boat is still in the water about half way at full trim. I know that is hurting my speed.
    I have a Solas SS 11 1/8 x 14 prop.
    Any thoughts?

You need to get your RPMs back up to at least 5000. You can achieve that by dropping to a 13 pitch prop but I don't think it will help you get more lift from your bow. Mercury makes a 4-blade prop, I don't remember the name but a 13 pitch 4 blade might lift your bow some and get your RPMs back. Trophy Plus is the name of the 4 blade prop, I think it has good bow lifting characteristics.

When you increase the number of blades with the same diameter prop, you have to drop at least 1" of pitch just to maintain the same RPMs. So, if you go to a 4-blade prop you're looking at dropping at least 2" in pitch since you were already overpropped. As to lift, look for a prop with more cup. That increases lift.
